F. avenaceum (Fr.) Sacc.
Microconidia: generally scarce, long, slender, 3-4 septate, spindle-shaped.
Macroconidia: very long, slender, thin-walled, apical cell elongate and often bent. Foot-shaped basal cell.
Conidiophores: branched and unbranched monophialides.
Chlamydospores: Absent.
Perfect State: Gibberella avenacea (heterothallic).
On PDA: rapid growth, aerial mycelium dense and white but frequently tan to reddish-brown. Orange sporodochia. Underside from tan to carmine red to dark brown.
