Microconidia: Absent
Macroconidia: stout, thick-walled, ventrally and dorsally curved, foot-shaped to slightly notched foot cell
Conidiophores: branched and unbranched monophialides.
Chlamydospores: Abundant, produced singly, in chains and in clumps
Perfect State: Unknown.
On PDA: rapid growth, profuse aerial mycelium with carmine red undersurface. Resembles F. graminearum, F. cerealis and other members of the G. zeae species complex.
